(Since this is a charity event, if your company donates more than that, it will be most
welcomed and gratefully appreciated. )
So you want to submit a team…
– Any individual, organization, or company can submit up to two teams.
– The ABE Charity Cup tournament consists of a total of 16 participating teams.
– Teams consist of 7 players on the pitch/field at any one time and up to 3 substitutes.
– Matches are 20 minutes long with a 3 ‐ 5 minute half‐time for re‐hydration.
– All teams must provide their own uniforms or matching colour scheme.
– All teams will play a minimum of 4 games. (see page 4 for match schedule)
– The official team badge (issued by the event organizers) allows all team members to
receive discounts on specified food and beverage, and water for no extra charge
throughout the day.
– All teams are allowed to bring a banner (maximum size of 10mx5m horizontal) to tie
onto the chain linked fence surrounding the pitches. A ladder will be provided, to be
used at the teams’ own risk.
Rules…
The rules of the tournament are the standard FIFA rules, with a few exceptions.
– Matches are 20 minutes in length.
– Half time is 3 – 5 minutes.
– Each team may only consist of 10 players. Only 7 players may be on the pitch at any one
time.
– If a team submits a female player and she plays for an entire 20 minute match, any goal
that she scores will count as 2. If she only plays for part of the match it only counts as 1.
– In the initial group stage 1 point is a draw and 3 points are a win. This determines which
8 teams move to the Cup portion of the tournament and which 8 move to the Plate
portion of the tournament.
– There is no offside rule.
Cup vs. Plate…
The full day tournament is divided into 3 sections. Section 1 begins at 09:00 with a team draw.
Team captains will randomly select a designating letter from a box, letters A through P. Teams in
each division will then compete against each other for the highest number of points.
At the completion of Section 1, the 8 teams with the most points will be placed in the
Cup Competition (Section 2), while the remaining 8 teams will be placed in the Plate
Competition (Section 3).
Section 2 and Section 3 will commence at the same time from approximately 14:30.
Sections 2 and 3 are knock‐out competitions.
There will be Section 2 awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and participants. There will also be
Section 3 awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and participants. The awards will vary based on if th
team is in Section 2 or Section 3.
Awards will be handed out at the ceremony. Team captains or a designated
representative are requested to be present in order to receive their award. Teams who
do not have a representative present at the awards ceremony will not receive their
