Dalian Greenland Center: the tallest building in Northeast China

Construction began this month on what will become the tallest building in Northeast China. Construction work began Nov 20 on the Dalian Greenland Center, which will be 518 meters tall, in the Donggang District of Dalian.

Dalian Greenland Center, funded by Greenland Group, a leading real estate developer in China, will cover a total area of 60,000 square meters and a total building area of 574,000 square meters. Greenland Group plans to invest about 8 billion yuan to develop the world-class complex, which will include a five-star luxury hotel with ocean views, international office buildings, business centers and business apartments.

Secretary of the Dalian Municipal CPC Committee Xia Deren and Dalian Mayor Li Wancai attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

HOK (Hellmuth, Obtat, and Kassabaum), the largest US-based architecture-engineering firm, won the bid for the design of the Greenland Center. Using advanced technologies and building materials, the complex is expected to be a new landmark for Dalian.
