Mark has been to China for more than ten years, visiting a lot of Chinese cities. In Shenzhen, he found himself fitting there properly and a strong sense of belonging. That’s why he has already been living there for five years. That’s also the reason that he chose Shenzhen Arcadia Court, which is located in Futian Zone. In his opinion, a convenient home is the most important thing except for work.

In January, his company decided to expand their business to southwestern China. Owing to that, Mark considered to move to Chengdu. First of all, he must find his own paradise to live. According to a sales assistant, the clubhouse provides spa, sauna, fitness room and mahjong rooms. Meanwhile, the landscape area is designed by a famous Japanese architect in a Japanese style equipped with a running track which is good for daily jogging. In the first floor, the grand entrance lobby with its towering 6m. ceiling achieves a perfect blend of form, style and function. Walking into the house, Mark was attracted by the distinctive living room, properly designed open-air balcony and tidy kitchen and bathroom. The apartment is well furnished with top-quality fittings and appliances. All you need is just full fill your home with your favorite furniture and style.

Aside from the events in the Bookworm we have many many other events where we bring the authors to other sites, such as universities, international schools etc and they do events there too in the day time.

How is the festival organized? Do you have a standard procedure of it?

Yes, this is the fifth year we have run it in Chengdu. It has an organised format and involves readings, discussions, poetry, workshops, kids events, music events, screenings etc.

What kind of people will be involved and what are their roles in CD community?

According to the Chinese media, this literary festival is the largest English-language festival in China, and has been for three years now or so.
The Bookworm festival features top international, Asia-based and local authors. The festival aims to maximize the involvement of the community, local and international, in the arts and literature, and fuel interest in cultural discussion and exchange. To date, the festival has played a meaningful role in China’s development within the international literary scene, and is now acknowledged as the biggest English-language festival on the Chinese Mainland.

What kind of media exposure do you expect?

We always get a lot of very positive media exposure for this event, in both the English and Chinese language media. It sends out a very positive image, promotes literacy and education, and portrays Chengdu as an intellectual and international city. So the branding is very positive and the media are very supportive. They do several interviews with visiting authors and also cover the events themselves. We stay away from anything sensitive of course so there are no concerns on that front, which means the government continues to support this.
