Locations in Wuhan where to find expats and have a nice chat with them...

Despite China’s beautiful culture and delicious food, it is nice for expats to meet people from their home country and have a chat not solely involving China.
One location where expats like to go is bars because Western people are in much the same way as Chinese are social eaters. Some bars attracts foreigners more than the others be it the atmosphere, music, food, beer selection, English speaking staff etc. This blog entry will depict two bars are sure-fire to meet expats.
The Red Lover (红色恋人), popular among businessmen, white-collars and foreigners, is located near the Blue Sky bar. A wide assortment of entertainment (live bands and DJs) and occasionally performances of exotic dances are offered in the well decorated bar. The price of comparatively expensive drinks of 35 RMB per pint is compensated with the opportunity to meet expats and have a fun time. Its full address is

Red Lover
红色恋人
No.600, Hankou Jianshe Avenue, Jianghan District
江汉区汉口建设大道600号

Close to the Wuhan University and East China University of Technology, there is a student-type bar in the college row. It is featured with karaoke, bottled beer and the prices for sweets and cocktails are cheaper than Red Lover bar.
Furthermore, there is the bar called Big Mouth (大嘴巴) with a warm atmosphere and excellent drink prices (20 RMB per pint) which is very popular among young people.

Big Mouth
大嘴巴
Lu Street, Qingshan District (behind Wuhan University of Science and Technology)
青山区旅大街附近（武汉科技大学后门）

Wuhan International Golf Club was established in 1994. It is the only 18-hole, par 72, championship golf course in Wuhan. The club is dedicated to the promotion and advancement of this sport. Through the hard work of club personnel, we are constantly improving our course environment, club facilities, and service. We hope to continue providing a world class golfing facility for golf enthusiasts and create a sociable environment, where family and friends, and business opportunities culminate. In the future, with your support, our club will strive for excellence.

Wuhan International Golf Club is designed by British Open and Masters Champion, world famous golfing legend, Nick Faldo. Using his years of experience in professional golf competitions, coupled with his unique understanding of this sport, Mr. Faldo has created a golf course, which is seamlessly integrated into the natural environment and landscape. Wuhan International reflects the beauty and drama of golf and at the same time, brings challenge and satisfaction to golfers of every level.

When you are in Wuhan International Golf Club, basking in the warm sun, stepping on soft grass with mother nature’s moisturizing and aromatic breathe massaging white ball piercing the calm blue sky you will come to understand the peace, the warmth, and the freedom, which is the utopia of golf.

The Wuhan International golf club is situated in the Jinyinhu Development Zone, 15 kilometers from Tianhe International Airport in the north; 7 kilometers from the city center in the south; 3 kilometers from the Hankou Railway Station in the east; and 7 kilometers from the Taiwanese Economic Development zone in the west. Within two hours’ flight, golfers from Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Hong Kong may easily tee off at the club. The Club not only takes advantages of the major passageways, but also shares the beauty of natural lakes, green belts and countryside views. No wonder it has become Wuhan`s window to the world.

Spanning across an area of 2,500 mu, Wuhan International Golf Club is the only 18-hole golf course in Wuhan, with a total length of 7,190 yards. Over 8,000 square meters of facilities include the club house, two lawn tennis courts, golf school, and pro-shop. In addition, two garden villa communities are interwoven into the golf course, further perfecting the design.

The Shēngxiào 生肖, better known in English as the Chinese Zodiac, is a scheme that relates each year to an animal and its reputed attributes, according to a 12-year cycle. It is followed in several East Asian countries such as Korea and Japan.

The 12 animal’s appearance came from a legend that says that Buddha invited all animals to spend the New Year with him. Only twelve animals came and Buddha promised to give each year one of their names in order of their arrival which was the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

If you don’t know what Chinese Zodiac animal you are, check this chart.

The Chinese zodiac exists since the Han Dynasty (2000 years ago). The Chinese zodiac has spread to all neighboring countries of China.

The Chinese New Year is celebrated at the end of January or early February. The Chinese calendar is not used to predict the future, but rather to get information on the character of a person, these talents…
